Lecture -- Presented by award-winning teachers, lectures are grouped by level:
Level A - topic overview.
Level B - more in-depth with detailed definitions of terms and more examples.
Level C -- designed to help overcome specific barriers to understanding.
Hint - Appears upon request during the problems. Hints are detailed descriptions of how to work the problem. The Hint may even give the student the correct answer so that he/she may move to the next question, but each hint is counted in the student’s record and is weighted the same as a wrong answer.
Problems - a series of questions based on the lecture video.
Answer Entry Module - Where students enter answers to problems. Determined by the format of the answer, students may type or use the mouse to select the answer. Students must click or type “Enter” for Acellus to accept the answer.
Help Video -- Level B Lecture on the same topic as the first video (Level A Lecture), but with more thorough explanations as described above. After the Help Video, the student is again returned to the Problems.
Replay Video -- The Lecture that was last viewed is shown again when the Replay Video Button is clicked. After the Help Video, the student is again returned to the Problems.
"Terms" or Terminology List -- an electronic dictionary of mathematical terms used in this program. The Terminology list is located in the Notes window and is formatted to resemble the Electronic Notebook.
Results -- Once the student has entered the answer, the Results Display provides immediate feedback.
Notes -- the personification of the knowledge that students need to acquire. Notes reinforce the learning process by:
helping the students visualize what they have learned;
providing a memory bridge between the Lecture and the Problems;
becoming a resource for review, thereby helping to solidify concepts into long-term memory.
