BEAM – Bigelow Expandable Activity Module
Scientists have developed a new type of space habitation which is made of an unlikely material – fabric. Not only does this make the module lightweight, it is also expandable. The module’s ability to expand means that it can be launched into space at a fraction of its final volume. This new technology is currently going through a two-year trial in space, where it is orbiting our planet in connection with the International Space Station.
