Acellus offers a comprehensive feedback system that responds to users’ interactions by modifying the curriculum to fit individual needs. It is this unique feature that makes Acellus a step above other computerized learning systems. Throughout each student’s session, Acellus keeps a detailed record of all lesson activities. Based on each student’s performance, Acellus creates an individualized curriculum, ensuring that every student understands every concept. Teachers can use the detailed Administrative reports, to monitor students’ progress and determine grades based on student performance.
Exams
At appropriate points throughout the course, Acellus presents students with examinations, including Unit, Mid-Term, and Final Exams. In addition, some of the courses offer an optional Pre-Test to collect valuable baseline information from which to measure student progress. The tests are based on concepts from the Lectures, and assess student competence with the material. The assessments can be used as one of the criteria for determining student grades.
Each exam, except the Pre-Test, is preceded by a Review that gives students one more opportunity to gain understanding of the concepts before they are tested.
Lesson Format
National award-winning teachers present short video lectures on each topic. Several problems are given to the students to give them practice and demonstrate their understanding. The student enters answers in the Acellus Answer Entry Module. Additional tools such as Notes and Terms are also available to aid students. If the student gets too many problems wrong in a lecture, a supplemental lecture, presenting the same concept in more detail, is presented. Afterwards, the student is given more experience to demonstrate their understanding by working additional problems.

Sticky Problems
When the student answers a question incorrectly, Acellus flags it as a “Sticky” Problem. In future lessons, before the student can move forward to the next lecture, any Sticky Problems from previous lectures will be presented. This gives students extra practice and helps to cement their newly gained knowledge.
Administrative Tools
The Acellus Administrator Interface gives teachers a sophisticated means of supervising the learning process. The Administrator Interface enables teachers to monitor the progress of students in the course, reposition students, assign grades, and perform several other teacher functions.
Student Performance Section
This administrative section includes several options for generating student performance reports. The Student Progress Report is a comprehensive report on each student's progress. Teachers are able to review the following information for each of their students:
- Student’s goal for entire course
- Number of lectures completed
- Student’s standing in accordance with course goal
- Average accuracy per lesson
- Teacher assessment
- Number of exams completed
- Exams scores
- Teacher comments
Acellus assigns a grade to each student based on
- Progress toward their goal
- Average accuracy achieved on problems
- Unit and term exam scores
- Manual teacher input (optional)
Teachers are able to set the percentage for each of these items to determine how much each parameter affects student grades.
Other options in Acellus Administration include the following:
- List Students in Classes – Shows student progress by class.
- List Students by Lecture – Reports all lectures that have been completed by students in a selected class.
- List Students by Date – Reports the activities of each student in a selected course for a given day. A detailed “Activities Log” lists details of every action taken by each student.
- List Exams Taken – Provides information concerning when each exam was taken and a summary of student performance on each exam.
